An extremely rare model 1767 Grenadier saber with a lion head pommel for an elite National Guard founded in 1789. Blade engraved "GARDE NATINALE" on one side and "PRO PATRIE" on the other with floral decorations and military paraphernalia. Brass hilt, original stitched leather scabbard with brass fittings, and period leather belt flap.
Dimensions: L:30 5/16 in., (77 cm.)
Condition: Very good, minor oxidation on the blade.
