A wonderful 19th-century Indian Axe — all steel, and beautifully constructed with the blade forming the neck of an antelope, complete with the animal’s head and twisted horns. The Steel semi-circular axe blade and the entire axe are abundantly covered with magnificent silver floral decor made using the koftgari technique. The long steel shaft with bands at intervals and a figured, domed base. A wonderful-looking Indo-Persian weapon dating to the 19th century. Provenance: Bonhams: Eastern Arms & Armour from the Richard R. Wagner Jr. Collection, 29 Apr 2015, London, Knightsbridge.
