An Argentinian bayonet was manufactured to fit the Argentine M1891 Mauser rifle. A single-edged blade has a flat spine above a long single fuller and tapers to a spear point. Cast alloy grip scales are held by two rivets. With the press-stud mechanism in the steel birds-head pommel. Marked to the ricasso Modelo Argentino 1891 over the Argentine coat of arms that was purposefully removed. The blade is stamped above the crosspiece with the serial number L1809. The obverse ricasso is stamped with the manufacturer Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Co. Solingen. The spine of the bayonet is stamped with the proof mark, an A below a star. With inspection and ownership stamps. The bayonet is complete with its steel scabbard with an oval frog stud. Both rifles and bayonets were produced under contract in Germany between 1893 and 1898.
