A fine Indo-Persian battle axe. The forged axe head is of the crescent shape with projecting terminal points, with etched floral motifs on each shoulder, petite birds etched on the blade faces and shoulders, and elegant silver koftgari outlining each etched panel. The back of the socketed shoulder is a stylized elephant-dragon head with an open mouth that could shred lighter armor. Attached to the lengthy shaft is a hemispherical pommel cap, еhe upper part of the shaft ends with a faceted spike. Early 19th cen.
