A silver-mounted saber (shamshir), Persia, 19th century, the blade the single-edged, of a curved form, decorated with engraving, inscription-filled cartouche to one side. The guard is made of silver and decorated with inscriptions in Arabic. Horn grip scales, silver pommel, the wooden scabbard clad in embossed leather, and the silver mounts are engraved with floral motifs. An exceptionally attractive shamshir.
Dimensions: L: 36 1/2 in., (93 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall, the blade is slightly pitted, silver chape has a few minor dents.
