An Indian hand-forged axe with a crescent-shaped steel blade engraved with chiseled decoration. The blade is fixed on a steel shaft with spike and ends in a ball terminal. The ceremonial axe is based on the traditional pharetri associated with the Khond peoples indigenous to central, eastern, and southern parts of India. 19th century.
