A rare type war hammer, designed for breaking through helmets and light armor, as well as catching and pulling out swords and daggers from the opponent’s hand. Well-forged steelhead of thorn shape to one side and long strong hook to the other. Mounted on its original, black leather-covered wooden shaft. The top of the hammerhead has a faceted steel spike as a finial. 19th century.
