A Soviet Order of Alexander Nevsky Type 1, Variant 3, was instituted on July 29, 1942. The order is constructed of four parts. The first is a ten-pointed silver star. On top is the second part, which is a five-pointed silver star with the rays covered with red enamel (it features the images of two reeds, a sword, a bow, a quiver with arrows, a wreath of laurel leaves, and a shield). The third part is an applied round silver medallion with the image of Nevsky. The fourth part of the order is the suspension device (a rectangular silver block covered with a red ribbon.) connected to the order with a loop. On the reverse, the underlying ten-pointed star has a round hole in the central part. The hole diameter is 21 mm. The inner part of the five-pointed enamel star is visible through the hole. At the edges of the ten-pointed star there are three rivets (they fasten the ten-pointed radiant and five-pointed enamel stars together). Two rivets are located in the projection of the protruding beards (at 11 o’clock and at 1 o’clock on the dial), the third – at the lower edge of the order (at 6 o’clock on the dial). There is no mint stamp on the reverse. The engraved order serial number is located at the lower edge of the order, to the right of the lower rivet (at 5 o’clock on the dial). S/N 3710. Weight: 2.2 oz., 64 g.
