This is a very rare Remington M-1862/63 brass hilted bayonet, designed to attach to the Remington "Zouave" percussion rifle, complete with its original brass mounted black leather scabbard. The blade is made of steel, the grip is cast-brass and ribbed; the attachment spring is on the right side. The brass hilt marked on the upper edge with its U.S. Inspector’s initials of B.H. These were manufactured in the U.S. by Remington and are stamped with various inspectors’ initials. A fine artifact from the American Civil War.
