Large bronze sculpture depicting a nude warrior, possibly Alexander the Great, on a horseback by Julius Schmidt Felling (German, 1835–1920). Raised on a wedge-shaped bronze plinth signed and dated: "Schmidt Felling 1904" and mounted on a dark green marble base. The body of the warrior and his helmet are covered with a golden brown patina, and the rest of the sculpture is covered with a dark brown patina. Julius Paul Schmidt-Felling was a German sculptor who worked during the mid-to-late 19th century and early 20th century. The subject matter of his work was wide and varied. He produced, among others, bronze statues of heroic warriors, athletes, blacksmiths, and farmers. A number of his sculptures of young children were in the Dutch colonial style, some being whimsical in nature.

Condition: Very good condition, minor signs of wear.
