A Nazi German WW2 Luftwaffe Ground Assault badge. Features an oak leaf wreath with at its apex a Luftwaffe eagle, grasping a swastika, flying above a storm cloud, from which a centered positioned lightning bolt strikes through ground. Zink construction with rivetted nickel silver eagle. The reverse holds a vertical slender banjo style pin back with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch. Designed by the graphic and textile artist Sigmund von Weech, instituted on March 31, 1942 by the commander-in-chief Hermann Goering.
