The Ottoman Army ordered 600,000 rifles from the Providence Tool Company, USA from 1872 to 1885 when the company went bankrupt. This specimen is ornately decorated with chased fittings. The Turkish contract Peabody Martini single-shot carbine featured a lever-actuated falling-block action, a high quality loading "slide", a color case-hardened action lever and cocking indicator, a 33" inch barrel with two barrel bands, 3 sling swivels, a right-side mounted cocking indicator, a two piece American Walnut stock set with blued steel (the finish is lost) furniture.
Dimensions: L: 42 1/2 in, (108 cm.)
Condition: Good action, very light pitting to the metal parts of the gun, sling is broken.
