A very rare example of the Indian Khanda sword, possibly from the 17th century. Wrought entirely of steel, with a flanged pommel and flared guard, the complex seating processes spanning approximately half the length of the long, straight, double-edged blade, the flared tip formed as a cobra’s head with hood expanded.

Very few examples are known, see R. Elgood, Hindu Arms & Ritual, Delft, Eburon, 2004, p. 82, for precisely similar in the British Museum and Moser Collection, Berne.

Dimensions: L: 33 7/8 in., (86 cm.)

Condition: Good with patina and light rust, pommel is chipped, some cracks on the blade.
