Oil on canvas portrait of a woman in a black dress. Signed at the lower right: "Boris Grigoriev."Boris Dmitrievich Grigoriev (Russian/French, 1886–1939) was a Russian avant-garde artist, graphic artist, and writer. The artist’s paintings are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, the State Russian Museum, in museums and private collections around the world.
Provenance: from the Family of Maria Tupper (1893-1965), she was a friend and student of Grigoriev in Santiago Chile where the current owner purchased the painting.
Dimensions: 29 1/2 x 22 3/4 in., (74.9 x 27.8 cm.)
Condition: Very good, no apparent signs of damage, very minor restoration on bottom center (between hands) seen under UV light inspection.
