Rare Russian hand-painted and lacquered papier mache inkwell desk set, lacquer miniature factory by V. O. Vishnyakov, 1880s. The central part is decorated with a reproduction of the painting "Noonday taking a Horse to Water, " 1877, by artist Hardy Heywood (1842 – 1933). The inkpot lids are also decorated with reproductions of 19th-century sentimental paintings. The lid with an image of a boy with a dog is painted after the painting by Alexey Gavrilovich Venetsianov (Russian, 1780–1847) "Here is Father’s dinner!, " 1824.

Condition: Very good.
