French Rococo oil painting on canvas depicting a young nude female bathing, attributed to Nicolas Fouche (French, 1653 — 1733). Apparently unsigned. Housed in an old giltwood and gesso frame beautifully ornate with daisy flowers.Note: Nicolas Fouche was born in Troyes, the son of the painter LÃ©onard Fouche. He was received into the AcadÃ©mie de Saint-Luc on 15 March 1679. The abbÃ© de Monville, biographer of Pierre Mignard, called Fouche one of his students. Cardinal Melchior de Polignac owned a series of paintings of the eight liberal arts by Fouche, inventorised by his heir, in 1738.
