AUCTION 39: ANTIQUE ARMS & ARMOR
Лот 121:
An ax combined with a matchlock and a barrel. The barrel is at the same time as the handle of the axe. The axe head is small and crescent-shaped. The blade itself is decorated with borders in a ‘wriggle-cut’ engraving. This is fastened to a square iron shaft that becomes octagonal, connecting to the barrel via molding. At the side of the barrel is a pan with a pivoted cover, the pivot rivet has a ring on top to which is attached a chain length. The serpentine/trigger is pivoted on a rivet through the shaft of the axe and has a simple leaf spring riveted to the trigger that is designed to press against the shaft—a rare item demonstrating the ingenuity of a master gunsmith.India, 18th century.
