HENRY PEMBER SMITH, (American, 1854-1907), Oil on canvas. Landscape painting depicting a house by the lake. Signed “HENRY P. SMITH” (lower right) Mounted in a carved gilt-wood frame. Footnote: Henry Pember Smith was an American painter, best known for his depictions of country cottages and river scenes around Lyme and East Lyme, Connecticut, and paintings of the sea and shore in New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Cape Ann to Maine.
Dimensions: Painting: 20 x 28 in., (51 x 71 cm.) Frame: 26 x 34 1/8 in.: (66 x 87 cm)
Condition: Good overall condition. Area of repair and restoration above and to the right of the boat, does not detract from the appearance of the painting. Very small touch-up spot above the signature, visible only under UV light.
