Lot 108:
Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator, Moscow, 1833. Overlaid with a repousse and chased silver riza with polychrome cloisonne enamel plaques. According to the canon, Jesus is depicted in a simple robe, holding in his left hand an orb and a scepter, as symbols of supreme power while his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing.
Hallmarks: ‘FIR’ (Cyrillic), 84, ND (Cyrillic), 1833, kokoshnik.
12 1/2 x 10 1/2 in., (31 x 27 cm.)
Condition: Very good condition overall. A few small and insignificant scratches to the icon. A few dents to the silver riza.
