Russian Orthodox icon overlaid with a chased and repousse silver-gilt oklad with gilded haloes.
Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus at her side and pointing to him as the source of Salvation.
Hallmarks: Nizhny Novgorod city mark, 84 silver standard, 1834, maker’s mark ‘I.P’
14 x 12 in., (35.5 x 30.5 cm.)
Condition: Very good condition overall. Minor and insignificant paint losses to the icon. Minor scratching to riza associated with age.
