Lot 95:
A Tekke Turkmen hand-crafted cuff armlet known as bilezik decorated with three rows of table-cut semi-precious carnelians. The bracelet is gold-washed and decorated with hand-engraved motifs. Pieces of carnelian, a bright red colored stone, are popular because they are believed to protect the wearers from illness and death.
Second half of the 19th century.
Weight: 8.4 oz., (238 g.)
L: 3 1/2 in., (9 cm.)
Condition: Good, the gilding is partially lost.
