Spanish Colonial embossed leather document box. The chest is covered with embossed leather elaborately decorated with a geometrical design and features a mythical creature on the lid of the box.
Spain, 18th century.
14 x 9 3/4 x 4 3/4 in., (35.6 x 25 x 12 cm.)
Condition: The leather is original and does not show any restoration. The wooden interior has a crack which was caused by the wood shrinkage over time. The iron hinges and lock are in their original condition. The key is missing.
