A long flintlock pistol with chiseled silver fittings and wire inlay. Ottoman Empire, circa 1800. This ornate pistol was probably made in the Balkans in the late 18th century. It has an angular barrel merging into a round with a smooth bore. French-style iron flintlock. The walnut stock has a flared butt and is fitted with a variety of silver ornamentation including a relief engraved butt cap and matching panel extending back from the breach, an intricate insert on the wrist with oval coral inserts, and extensive wire inlaid designs. A silver pipe decorated with embossing and engraving connects the edge of the barrel to the wooden stock.

Condition: Very good, minor scratches to the stock.
