AUCTION 43: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 265:
An Ottoman dagger (kard), circa 1800. With a tapering Wootz steel blade. The hilt is composed of two faceted agate scales with an engraved gilt-brass rib in between. The hilt is set with red corals. The scabbard is made of wood covered in dark red velvet. The fittings are made of silver with a beaded throat collar.
Ottoman Empire, 1800’s.
L: 17 1/2 in., (44 cm.)
Condition: The blade appears to be in good condition. The edge could have been re-sharpened in the past. The hilt is tight. The silver scabbard fittings show small dents. Overall condition is good considering the age and medium.
