AUCTION 43: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 331:
A Russian Provisional Government period Dragoon officer’s shashka with private maker’s mark struck at the forte reads as follows: "? ? ????????". The hilt and scabbard mounts are made at the "SLAVA MOSKVA" factory. The Russian emperor Nicholas II cipher has been removed (filed off) from the pommel. The sword was probably in use during the Civil War in Russia (1918- 1922).
L: 38 1/4 in., (97 cm.)
Condition: Leather is flaking in various places across the scabbard. Metal fittings are all in good condition. Hilt is slightly loose. Blade has some knicks along the edge, but is otherwise near perfect.
