A Soviet officer’s shashka, "Podznamenka." Brass pommel with soviet star and D-shaped guard decorated with olive branches, ferule stamped with inspection mark, ribbed wood handle, curved blade with one wide and three narrow fullers on each side. marked by Zlatoust Factory and date "ZIK 1949" (a rare early year of production). Wood black lacquered scabbard with brass mounts stamped with Zlatoust Factory inspection marks.
L: 38 in., (96.5 cm.)
