An Allen’s Patent single-shot percussion pistol from approx. 1845. Bore is 6mm in diameter. S/N 582. The pistol possesses a unique bar hammer design that was patented by manufacturer Ethan Allen. The bar hammer is stamped ‘ALLENS PATENT’. There is minor staining across the barrel and other metal components but very little pitting for its age. There is fine engraving on both sides of the pistol above the trigger well, as well as some basic engraving work on the backstrap. The base of the barrel is stamped ‘PATENTED’, ‘1845’, ‘CAST-STEEL’, ‘582’. The wooden handle has some minor wear but is in good condition. All mechanisms function well.
