Fine German percussion shotgun, 1870-80. Made in Soemmerda, Germany by Franz von Dreyse. The barrels are made of Damascus steel with a beautiful pattern. The barrel rail also made of Damascus steel is decorated with gold inlay inscribed with "F. von. Dreyse Sömmerda". The furniture is decorated with engraved floral motifs and hunting scenes. The walnut stock is decorated with carvings and an ornate trigger guard. S/N 21878 is marked on the back of the butt.
