Grigory Gluckmann (Russian, American, 1898 — 1973), an oil on panel painting "Young Model, " 1940. Signed by the artist lower right. Housed in an original period carved wood and gesso frame with a linen trim. Bears a Doyle auction house and Palm Springs Galleries paper labels on the backside. Note: Grigory Efimovich Glyukmann was a Russian and American graphic artist and painter. In 1917 he entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, but after three years he left his studies and emigrated to Berlin. In 1922 he joined the literary and artistic community Spindle. Since 1924 he settled in Paris, where in October his first solo exhibition took place at the Drouot Gallery. Gluckmann actively exhibited at the Tuileries Salon, Salon d’Automne, and at exhibitions of the National Society of Fine Arts. From 1924 to 1939 held more than ten solo exhibitions in Paris, London and New York. Participated in exhibitions of Russian art in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris.
