Mikhail Larionov (Russian, 1881-1964), an oil on canvas painting titled "Girls with goats in the forest, " 1898. Signed lower left, additionally signed and dated verso. Housed in the original American 19th century, applied ornament and gilded Whistler frame with flat panel.
Provenance: Rosebery’s Auction, London, October 11, 2005, lot # 607.
Note: Mikhail Larionov was an avant-garde Russian painter who worked with radical exhibitors and pioneered the first approach to abstract Russian art.
