Claudio Giulianelli (b. 1956) "Il Sogno di Martha" (Martha’s Dream) oil on canvas painting, 2023.
Claudio Giulianelli was born in Rome. His strong passion for art is derived from the technique and study of the works of the Old Masters (especially Caravaggio and Bosch). His encounters with painters like Delfo Previtali and Guido Razzi have further refined his way as a painter.
Claudio Giulianelli is a hermetic painter, his works are inspired by fantasy and dream-alike Middle Ages. His paintings are full of references to alchemy. Giulianelli usually paints female figures (they symbolize Nature), puppets, or masks from the Commedia dell’Arte Italiana (Pulcinella and the Carabiniere, representing the two opposite poles that balance the Universe).
Giulianelli participated in the Art Fairs in New York, Beijing, Nanjing, Hang Zhou, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Forlì, Libano, and Bari. His works are displayed in several museums and private collections. Large canvases are displayed in Italian and Austrian cathedrals. Presently the artist lives and works in the ancient Etruscan town of Corchiano.
