Chinese chest made primarily of cedar wood, known for its ability to repel moths and other insects, with finely carved depictions of Chinese seaside towns in high relief on its front and top. The back and sides of the chest are carved in low relief and show more depictions of the town and small cherry blossoms. The sides of the chest also have two handles carved into the wood so that they are inset rather than protruding, making the chest flush with anything that it may be set against.
The chest bears a brass latch and padlock on its front. The padlock is of a unique rectangular shape with two internal flat springs and is unlocked using a special pronged key that depresses these internal springs so that the shackle can be pushed outward.

Condition: Very good with expected signs of wear.
