Lot 75:
Jacob van der Schley, three lithographs depicting the transportation of the thunderstone for the monument of Peter the Great. The lithographs are signed lower right and inscribed in Russian. All of the lithographs have labels with annotations both in Russian and in English on the verso, one of the lithographs has a post-1917 clipping from a newspaper with an image depicting the finished monument.
The lithographs are housed in wooden frames, one of them has a Christie’s auction label.
Jacob van der Schley (1715-1779) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver.
18 x 28 1/2 in., (45.7 x 72.5 cm.)
Condition: Fair condition, especially for age. Some very minor scratches throughout and tears. The paper has slight discoloration from foxing.
