AUCTION 45: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR

A Victorian-era dagger in the renaissance style, possibly a souvenir of the ‘Grand Tour’. The pointed blade is of steel and is affixed to a decorated hilt. The hilt is of browned steel decorated with geometric patterns and faces. The guard is made up of two quillons and a ring guard, each of which bears a protruding face. The handle has a large lobe with a helmeted man in profile engraved upon it. The lobe thins out until the pommel, which is another large lobe and is adorned with a protruding animal face.
L: 15 in. (38.1 cm.);
Condition: Very good with expected signs of wear.
