Buyer's premium:

This morbidly ornate dagger would have once belonged to a Freemason of the 19th century. The gilt quillons are styled as two crossed bones, while the pommel is a gilt skull. The handle is wrapped with fine gilt and copper wire. The blade is slender and pointy and fits nicely within the scabbard. The scabbard itself is affixed with a locket and chape which are both gilt and decorated with filigree engraving. The center of the scabbard has been wrapped with fabric which has since faded and is adjoined at the back by a strap of braided copper wire.

L: 14.75 in. (37.47 cm.);

Condition: Overall condition is very good. Grip is tight. The scabbard fabric has faded and suffered minor loss.
