A very rare book commemorating the Master Ring Laying ceremony of the ZRS-4 Zeppelin at the newly built ‘Goodyear Zeppelin Airship Factory and Dock’, at the time the largest single-span building in the world, in Akron, Ohio on November 7th, 1929. This ship was the first ever purpose-built flying aircraft carrier and would serve the U.S. Navy for just under two years before perishing along with 73 of her 76 crewmen and passengers in a thunderstorm off the coast of New Jersey in 1933.

The blue cloth cover of the book is embossed with a silver medallion showing the ill-fated ship along with the text ‘ZRS-4/RING LAYING/GOODYEAR ZEPPELIN/AKRON, OHIO, U.S.A./NOV, 7, 1929.’. The inside of the book explains the history of flight and America’s position within the world of aviation, as well as an overview of the creation of the new airship factory. There are many Zeppelin related images within, including images of the very ceremony the book is commemorating.
