AUCTION 45: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR

A Spanish style sail dagger comprised primarily of steel, the slender blade having many decorative notches cut into it as well as having a raised midrib running the entire length of the blade on both its front and back. The sail-shaped handguard is decorated with an embossed depiction of a soldier wearing a visored helmet and a scale-mail chest piece as well as foliate imagery throughout. Projecting from underneath the sail guard are two twisted-steel quillons ending in half-dome finials. The handle of the dagger is chain wrapped in a spiraling pattern and is capped off by a squat, almost pumpkin shaped pommel with spiraling grooves.

Condition: Very good with a nice patina. Only minor staining/pitting in some places.
