AUCTION 45: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 206:
A Russian officer’s shashka with an 18th-century blade and the cipher of Nicholas II on the pommel. The blade is a European sabre blade engraved with the phrase ‘Vivat Hussar’ set above an engraved depiction of a mounted hussar swinging his sword. The scabbard is wrapped in stitched black leather, possibly a later restoration, and its mounts are of niello.
L: 35.5 in. (90.17 cm.);
Condition: Very good overall with expected signs of wear.
