AUCTION 45: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 219:
A beautifully decorated Tabar axe with gold damascene swirling designs around the edges of the axe head. In addition, there are two engraved sections, one on each cheek of the axe, depicting birds nestled in some flowers. The butt of the axe-head is engraved with a depiction of a rabbit laying in the grass. The handle is a long cylindrical metal rod with faint geometric decoration across the entirety of its surface.
L: 23 in., (58.4 cm.)
Condition: Patina is consistent with age. Damascene slightly faded in places but is still present. The decoration on the handle is faint now but still present, may be more visible with cleaning. All parts are tight.
