Tauni De Lesseps, French-American, 1920 – 2001, a cast bronze sculpture of Mermaid and Merman embracing. Signed on the arm of a Merman.

Note: Countess de Lesseps was born in Paris, a daughter of the much-decorated French aviator and war hero Jacques de Lesseps. She kept the de Lesseps name after becoming a United States citizen and had several marriages. Her Connecticut neighbor, German G. Glidden, founder of the National Art Museum of Sport, painted her portrait with a red fan which hangs in his former studio in Norwalk, Conn. She served as a NAMOS trustee. As a sculptor and painter, de Lesseps has worked in the White House, the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C., and embassies, corporations, private collections and museums around the world. She also was known for her philanthropic work.
