Lot 201:
A bronze plaque in the shape of an eagle commemorating the historic ‘Battle of Waterloo’, the famous battle that marked the final defeat of Napoleon at the hands of the Duke of Wellington and General Field Marshal von Blücher. The plaque consists entirely of bronze and bears the name of the battle below the eagle. It is kept within a vintage shadowbox with a gilt-wood frame.
England, 19th century.
Eagle: 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 in., (5.7 cm.); Shadowbox: 6 1/8 x 5 5/8 in., (15.6 x 14.3 cm.)
Condition: Very good with a nice patina.
