Ludovic Janssen (1888 – 1954), oil on canvas painting ‘La ferme rouge, ‘ ‘The red farm, ‘ 1929. depicting an autumn rural landscape. Signed by the artist lower left. Additionally signed, titled, dated and inscribed verso. Note: Ludovic Janssen was a Belgian artist, painter of landscapes, etcher, Illustrator and cartoonist. He was a student at the Academy of Liege (a. de Witte, e. Carpentier) and Saint-Luc. He attended the free workshop of etching f. Marechal. Starting in Liege in 1918, Ludovic took an evening course at the "Academie des Beaux-Arts in Liege, where he was expelled after a quarrel. Thereafter he enjoyed a two-year course at the Ecole St-Luc "in Liège. Then he exhibited at Paris with growing success. His works included interpretation of the skies and water bodies. Using a very personal palette, bleak, with a dominant of blue but also in some cases very luminous.

Condition: Good overall. Some flecks of paint missing in places. A straight tear of approx. 2 in. at lower right of painting.
