Anatoly Timofeivich Zverev, (Russian, 1931 – 1986), color pencil on paper painting "Rooster, " 1979. Signed with a monogram on the upper left. Published in Zverev’s catalog by Rubina Arutjunjan in 1989, page 3. Provenance: The Tabakman Collection, purchased from Rubina Arutjunjan in 1994.
Note: Anatoly Zverev, a Soviet Nonconformist artist, representative of the second wave of the Russian avant garde, painter of the Soviet underground. He was and remains a legend in the artistic life of Moscow in the second half of the 20th century.
