FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE 20TH CENTURY
Lot 31:
A characteristically Roman style oil-lamp with a wide recurved spout and raised central rib, set atop a short flared base. The piece retains its original lid, though the hinge-pin has corroded away. The handle is adorned with a large, beautifully sculpted palmette decoration.
Ancient Roman – CA. 1st – 2nd Century AD
H: 3 5/8 in., (9.2 cm.); L: 6 3/8 in., (16.2 cm.)
Condition: Good overall with some small holes due to corrosion at the top and front of the piece, the largest being on the right side of the spout. The pin for the hinge has corroded away.
