Note: Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Christian Randel, also Randell, was a German portrait, genre and horse painter, graphic artist and draftsman. He painted in oil and pastel and also created steel engravings. From 1836 onwards he was regularly represented at the Berlin Academy exhibitions, most recently in 1870. The art historian Adolf Rosenberg found that Randel had chosen the animal motif of the Great Dane as his special animal genre.
