FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE 20TH CENTURY
Лот 27:
A bronze phiale in a typically Hellenic style with central ‘omphalos’ (navel). This type of bowl was used for pouring libations as part of religious rituals, often in personal prayer. This example is of bronze and is brightly patinated with many different shades of green and blue, with some brown and orange in places. It is almost perfectly circular, with a thin lip at the rim, and the aforementioned ‘omphalos’ at its center which acts as a handle of sorts for the user.
