A signed bronze sculpture of a Moorish horseman by the sculptor A de Gericke, featured at the Salon des Beaux-Arts. The sculpture shows a mounted rider atop a neighing horse with highly decorated horse tack. The rider himself is wearing the traditional clothing of the Berber people as well as a dagger strapped to his waist, and is holding a moukhala in his left hand, a style of gun often seen in North Africa. The left hand is holding the reins of the horse. The piece is signed at the lower right, both with the artist’s signature and the phrase ‘Salon des Beaux-Arts’.
