FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE 20TH CENTURY
Лот 64:
An orientalist bronze lamp by Anton Chotka (1881-1955), cold-painted in the Viennese style. Chotka signed the piece with his last name at the rear left of the piece. The lamp depicts a Moorish man playing the tambourine while a monkey wearing European style clothes plays the cymbals whilst sat atop a donkey. Next to the figures are a rug and coffer, as well as a stand made to look like bamboo which acts as the support for the lamp. There are multiple palm fronds, a spear, and a shield made to look as if they are tied to the bamboo. The lamp itself is a crenellated hexagonal shape with Moorish arches holding opaque orange panels, surmounted by a dome with a crescent finial. Made to look as if it is being held by chains, it is actually supported by the aforementioned palms.
