FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE 20TH CENTURY
Лот 82:
This is a set of two nicely crafted bronze bells of differing size. The first and largest has a many-lobed handle and a surface which has been decoratively pierced with star and planet like shapes throughout. The inside has three smaller bells which, when rung, create a chime like sound.
The second, smaller bell is of gilt-bronze and is chased across much of its surface in addition to having a handle in the shape of a seated hound. This bell produces a richer, clearer tone than its larger companion.
Nuremberg, Germany — CA. 17th Century
H: 4 1/2 in., (11.4 cm.)
Condition: Very good, especially for age. Expected signs of use and age. Some minor oxidation in places. Handle of larger bell is possibly a slightly later replacement but could be original.
