The painting was made in 1952 and is framed in a handmade wooden frame. Depicted is a city street corner with a streetlight and water tower, in a distinct cubist style. The painting has an old exhibition label on the verso indicating the painting was part of the Palm Beach Art League’s annual members exhibition in 1953. It informs on the artist’s name, title and medium.
Dorothy Prohaska Stafford (American 1902-1986). Dorothy Stafford was born in Chicago and studied under Rudolph Weisenborn. She exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as numerous other locations and was known for her American cubist and abstract Expressionist style.
